Do you like to go fast? Well get out of that stocker and build a hipo motor for your VW. Come here to talk with others who like to drive fast.

And that could pose a problem with me running around screaming in a dress. At least for you anyway. ;)

That's a pretty cool stand, Don J. :)

The thread was not moderated. Deletion is not moderate at all. It was TERMINATED.

There is always someone to do it. Either THCOTTY KEITH did it, or Docster did.

Argh....

My fan is bent. There's about 1/10 inch of runout.

No, it's not the shaft. No, it's not the hub. No, it's not the shims. Yes, it is another delay.

Dude!

That is just BEAUTIFUL!

Why don't you just pry on the fan and get it back in shape?
1/10th is less than an 1/8th......

Thanks Don!

Because if it is balanced the way it is, bending it will throw it out. It should be true and balanced. It's a welded balanced fan and I am not about to try to change it. Needs to be right outta the box.

Your head must be misshapen. While I have already seen that disgusting mess, it's clear who has kept track of it well enough to help it proliferate. ;)

Maybe it's the cheap aftermarket mount? Or a previously damaged VW one? (perhaps from someone prying on it with a screwdriver to straighten it)Or the gen/alt shaft?

Cheap aftermarket mount? What do you mean? You mean the chrome face plate? The rest of it is genuine VW. That's not gonna cause my fan to do the funky chicken.

As I said,

"No, it's not the shaft. No, it's not the hub. No, it's not the shims..."

I checked. I have another fan and it is almost true but unbalanced and unwelded. I tried the shims thing, and I checked the hub for runout, as well as pulled the fan and rotated it 180. The runout follows the fan, not the shaft.

i guess the next question would be, do they get that way from the welding??? time to call the supplier and see if they have any info on it.
