Patience is a virtue...

Post by Joe Del »

I'm only a few thousandths away from breaking in my engine. By that I mean the flywheel shims I had to order from the VW dealer have been on back order for about two weeks now! There's too much slop in the crank to run the engine without the shims, plus I can't install the oil seal until I have the shims in place.

The good news is I did the FINAL sanding on my car last night (...all night). I'll be tapeing off everything today (to prevent overspray). The final coat of paint will be applied in the morning! Hook up the tow bar Saturday morning and I'm in the home stretch.

This is really a milestone since my bug was broad-sided back in April, 2000. Yep, 14 months without my pride and joy is a long time. Funny how my full time job always gets in the way of my hobbies and free time.
