250 sound fair to you guys?

Post by stock60 »

so my car stopped in the safeway parking lot today. and while i'm trying to figure out WHY these guys driving by offered to give me an estimate on bodywork. SURE! here's my baby. Image

i had planned on fiberglass fenders so i told him i jus need the dent in front of the rear fender pulled and the part above the front fender under the hood which was pushed in. He said 150. he then said he'd do everything (fenders, dent, pushed in front panel and hood (also pushed in on the bottom) for 250 all in primer ready to go.
250 a good price? i could get fiberglass fenders for the rear for ~50 a pair and a fg fronts for i dunno 100? so i'm not too really interested in body work, but if 250 is a deal maybe i'll get it done and keep the original metal and my bug will be happier.

opinions?[/img]

what he probably means, is that the work will be really crappy for $250.
They will probably just slap alot of body on your car and not pull any dents or weld up any of the rust.

Normal body work prices depending on condition of car normall run a 1000 to 2000 if done correctly.

Would you go to a dentist that was 10 percent of the cost of the average dentist? You would do better to buy a hammer and dolly and start pounding...at least you would know what was under the primer....these scammers often use textured trunk paint to hide the waves in the work.

Folks who think they can get something for nothing almost deserve to be scammed...almost. Good body work costs real money...save up, or run it as is. The car looks cool right now!

I have seen those body dude's up here. They drill holes (lots of them, like 30-40 for a dent your size) and use this wierd pully thingy to pull them out. Then they spray this flexstone type stuff on it and call it good. I think it looks like $hit. I could do better with a toilet plunger and a hammer  . If they are soliciting you in a parking lot of a Safeway, this alone should cause suspissions. It is not a scam, just horrible budy work.. I would say NAH!!!

this happened to my brother,

he was solicited by one of these guys saying they would fix the big dent on the fender of his altima, he went to the guys house, the guy slapped a bunch of bondo on it, didn't sand the bondo, and sprayed flat spraypaint on it(didn't even cover all the bondo) then called him back. when he saw the "repair" he said he wasn't paying. just then a bronco pulls up behind his car, which was nosed into the garage, and 4 guys get out. long story short he pays the guy and doesn't get beat.
