Pauter rocker will fix the problem, the roller dosent care about were the stem is located.

These are your heads btw. :)

I traded my Pauters back for Scats because of their lack of pressure oiling.

I've sent an email to Scat asking about offset shafts and blocks.

Ah.. I get it Ryan, those are similar to if you've milled the bottoms off - I think those must be close to a 0.150 difference (closer to the head) from the looks of it. I measured mine, and the top thickness was about 0.100, and the bottom close to 0.245. These look just about mirror image of one another in your picture, so that would change it by about 0.150" for the ones you have.

Those actually came packaged together with my Scat 1.4s, guess someone was asleep in QC that day. They were replaced without issue (thanks to John C.) but that does seem to show that Scat has different style blocks. --Ryan

from looking at your pictures of your valvetrain ,i have had that same problem happen alot with that style scat rocker and vw cast heads, i have had to shave the rocker stand down up to .100 to get geometry correct..

It looks like you need to mill the rocker stands to achieve the correct geometry. When you do that it will also have the effect of pulling the rocker away from the valve (because of the angle that the valve travels). If you mill too much off, no biggie just shim it to your likings.

I was hoping to just get a new set of stands from Scat instead of having to have mine cut down. I have not gotten a reply from Scat yet, so I will probably call them Monday.

Seems like every time I get something resolved, I have to wait and wait to get through the next phase. So close.. yet..

Just think when you get it running thats when the real headache begins!!! :lol: Its not that bad but tuning is a science in itself.

Ok, I found a way to drop the rockers in (flipped the blocks over and made a set of non-shouldered studs for temp use from some old studs I had). After about a 0.060" drop, I have interference at the head studs, and at the block pads/rockers, and I still would not have enough "drop" from pulling them in if I went to 0.100". I'd have to offset down as well as in to get them right, cut all my studs, and have the heads clearanced.. may as well have the pads on the heads clearanced and have the studs reloacated down a little.

Screw it. I'll try different rockers. Bulletins as they occur.

I'm gonna shelf this project for now. Rockers have me bummed - until I can come up with a good solution it's gonna sit and I am going to get started on my bus engine.

Stupid rockers.

I'm there already. Until I can get some more rockers (may be a while), I can't do $hit.

Decided to try my hand at clearancing for a 76mm crank plus stock rods. Not much material but plenty of spots.

Hijacking my own thread.. how fun.

So I am clearancing my universal case by hand for a 76mm CB crank plus stock rods, for my upcoming bus engine.. I've noticed there is considerably more clearancing to do next to the cylinder bore for the oppsing rod when doing the right hand case half. Is this common?

Also my pickup tube is really junky. It looks like a smaller tube with a lousy bend in it, flattening the tube out a bit at the bend, and the entrance is at a wierd angle picking up from the sump. Is it possible to source a GOOD larger tube, and have the opening in the case resized to accept it?

The one in my case from ACN was great. Not all of them suck, from what I can tell. I'll see if I can find one. Thanks for the suggestion.
