Engine won't idle any lower...

Post by Danny »

I took the cylinders/pistons off to replace broken head studs. Now, after putting the engine back in, it idles too high. I lowered the idle screw all the way(dual weber 44 setup), but it's still too high. Is there something else to adjust?

Disconnect the linkage from the carbs and try it again. Sounds like your linkage is holding them open a little.

Thanks, adjusting the linkage fixed it.
Is it normal for there to be no change in the way the engine runs when i disconnect the #3 or 4 plug wire?

If you can unplug #3 or 4 spark plug wire and it has no effect then those 2 cylinders are not contributing to keeping your car running.
Your carbs are not syncronized.
