Removing chrome plating

When I got my pins for my popout hinges rechromed on my ghia the threaded section got plated too.How can you get it off the knobs won't
thread on now,someone I know suggested running a tap down it.Is there
an acid or heating it off way too go?

run a die on the threads - it will cut ot remove the chrome -

CLR CLEANER

Will Eat off Chrome after few hours.... I found this out by accident cleaning some bolts...
