sealing engine

I am putting my cylinders and heads on and I heard to use silicone. Whats best? Ultra blue? Where do i buy it at?

There is only one place that I use silicone on a VW engine and
that is around the base of the cylinders, no where else. I use
the Permatex high temp copper that can be bought at any
parts store.
