They will strike the inside of the fender and against the firewall on the front-end....and rub at the top in the rear. The rear can be adjusted slightly at the trailing arm bracket on the beam....but that may cause the handling to be strange. Ray

So, I understand 16x5½s will work albeit somewhat tight, right? If so, what's the proper offset? And with what tires?

There is no offset to be had other than stock. The distance at full lock to the inner fender and the outer fender lip is about the same with a 205-60/15. Its about 3/4" max. You could probably get away with the 6" width....but the 16" rim is going to kill you. Yes people do it...but every bump....and you strike either the fender edge or the firewall.....which is the inside of your trunk. With a 205 tire, you cannot go higher than 60 series in side wall height because the top of the tire will hit the inside. If you go a 16"...you will probly have to go to about a 45 series. Then, the tread width will be an issue....so you may need to stay at 5.5 in width. Do some serious measuring under the front end before you start swapping. When the wheel hits the inside...thats the inner trunk wall. Ray
