Add Private Message notification to red tool bar.

Post by Glenn »

Is is possible to add a PM notification to the red tool bar at the top of the page?

Normally the main page i goto is the "New Topics" page and PM notification is only on the "Home" page.

The Samba has it on the top of every page, so if you miss the email, you see it in the headings.

Do it!..........Do it! Have ya seen that movie?

I second Glenn! There is nothing like sending a PM and that person not knowing for a week that they have a message. Bert

There's a "Notify on new Private Message" flag under Edit Profile. Check this and you'll get an email notification. Yahoo tends to shunt it to the Bulk folder, but it's still better than no notification.

Im thinking off "you have no new messages" or "you have 1 new message" just to theright of "Logout" on the red menu bar.

That way it's on every screen. You can't miss it.

Not being much of a code writer myself I can't say for sure, but it seems to me as though that would be a rather ambitious modification. There's already an Inbox on the home page that's supposed to show your new message count, I for one would be satisfied if that feature worked properly.
There's a phpBB MOD that makes the icon flash when there's unread mail, but that isn't going to help if you don't look for it.

I see we're using v2.0.4 and v2.0.8 is out, but there's no added private message functionality listed in the revision history.
