IS IT WORTH CHANGING ROCKER RATIOS
I am building a 1776 with a 110 cam and I was wondering if it was worth the money to change rockers probably to 1.25 ratio running dual Kads and single springs in the heads

I am possibly going to get a 1641 engine, and have a set of autocraft 1.4's. I was wondering whether or not i could install them on the engine. the cam I think is a 110 engle. I thought i would possibly have coil bind, but was wondering what can be done to overcome the binding and still have the effect of the rockers.
thanks

Engles' "W" series cams are compatible with 1.25:1 rockers but no higher ratios. 1.4:1 Is a great wake up for a stock cammed engine along with dual single throat carbs and a header. I called Engle a while back and he said the same thing about running 1.25's on the intakes only on a small displacement engine.

so my 1.4's would work if i put in a stock cam? I have an FK89, but it is for my 2276 beast that i am building. I don't think i should stick it in the 1641. . the 1641 has baby dells on it now. I think i have a Scat C45 laying around, would that be compatible with the 1.4's? I sure would like to make this 1641 humm. I also have some straight cuts. I am thinking about bumping the compression up a bit too, and getting a better ignition system for it. I have not really dealt with "small" engines, but my brother had a 1641 that screamed...it was way faster than my other brother's 1835.Brent67 wrote:Engles' "W" series cams are compatible with 1.25:1 rockers but no higher ratios. 1.4:1 Is a great wake up for a stock cammed engine along with dual single throat carbs and a header. hey,
i run 1.25s on a en110 it has almost 500 lift at the valve.....
anything over that you need to look at the heads and shave the bosses....
i would not use 1.4s on en110 the lift would go over 500 and you would run in to clearance issues with the vavles....
..... i am not sure about web cams.... you might want to check with them....

I think what you need to do is look at the actual specs of whatever cam you want and see what the 1.4's are going to do to the lift. Some cams have alot of lift already, and these are the ones that are generally not 1.4 compatible (it also has to do with ramp angles, whether its compatible or not). If you are dead set on using the 1.4's, you could ask the cam grinder what cams are compatible with 1.4's, then choose from those. But it's a good idea to compare the specs, instead of just saying "this guy used this, and that guy used that" type of thing. Check out this thread, it goes over alot of stuff about cams, and will help you make a decision (once you've read it a few times, I was confused the first couple times).vtec this wrote: so my 1.4's would work if i put in a stock cam?
