I agree, and I see some smartasses that seem to think they have something to say, but just can't seem to get it all out, sorta like having prostate problems.

I know I'm new here but I really don't care if "The Lounge", & what ever the other one was, is gone or not. I would go in there once and a while to see links to other site for a good laugh. I noticed some people used it like a chat room and I agree with Scott, it looked like alot of wasted space.

This is just my oppion

You mean people used to actually come here but not talk about VWs? Weird.

I really like this site, however, I'm embarassed to say, I have not donated anything but my opinion.

Well, here's another one.

It is my opinion that a great many people enjoy coming here to talk, laugh, cry, and generally be around other ACVW enthusiasts ( verbally, if not in person ), and the memberlist reflects that. Scott, if you need help, don't be afraid to ask some of the folks here. Hell, its your shop, but maybe some authority on moderation needs to be delegated.
Mharney did a good job, not only did he delete some questionable posts, he actively participated in the discussions at hand.

Scott, I'd like to personally thank you for creating this forum for all of us here. Thanks for letting me hang out here from time to time 8)

As an actual paying CUSTOMER of this forum (advertiser), I frankly am happy to see those two forums go by the wayside. They were of no use to anyone.

I am, and have been a member of quite a large number of different online forums for various topics, and many of them felt the need to have such forums to contain the bu||sh|t. Well, an even better way to contain it is to simply be rid of it. All those types of forums ever seem to do is generate hate and discontent amongst those who participate in them.

There are plenty of unmoderated discussion forums, if you want to talk about something other than aircooled VWs, go to one of them.

Indeed.

The thing about it is, with no place to post garbage, the garbage will get posted in the other forums (there's no stopping it - it's inherent in the best of the non-purists). Even JCL has been known to post garbage, and it's no contest - the amount of moderation necessary to keep it OUT of the other forums will require more effort than Thcotty was putting forth in the other forums.

Life goes on, and the purists will suffer, just the same.

Shameful, I must say.

Mark's got a good point. Even though this forum's here to talk about ACVW's, there is a sense of friendship, and community between most members here that extends beyond the subject of VW engines. Even though this hobby may have brought all of us together, some people here like to share in subjects non-ACVW related.

Without an off-topic forum, those subjects may get posted in inapropreate (sp?) places. Purists will cry foul, and tell those off topic posters to shove it, and go to the Samba to post their garbage.

Or, like this, we'll just post the off topic threads in the Forum Suggestions area. <big ass grin>
