Where do you guys mount your extra gauges? The dash on my '66 Ghia has 3 holes, 2 large (speedo/clock) and one small (fuel). I was thinking about swapping out the clock for a tach, but if I got a temp gauge, where could I stick it? I don't want to cut the dash, but am looking for an attractive placement.MASSIVE TYPE IV wrote:EVERY aircooled car on the road needs a CHT gauge!
Head temp sensor above or below the spark plug washer?

Well, I don't own a Ghia, but in my daily driver Squareback, there are two fesh air vents in the central part of the dash that have about the same size as a VDO gauge (cockpit style), so I redirected the fresh air hoses to the underside of the dash and used the holes for two VDO gauges.

Khai,
Call Westach (www.westach.com) and have them build you a dual gauge that has fuel and CHT in it. Replace your stock fuel gauge with the dual gauge.

Now THERE's a damn fine idea that I never even knew was possible.BajaT4 wrote:Call Westach (www.westach.com) and have them build you a dual gauge that has fuel and CHT in it. Replace your stock fuel gauge with the dual gauge.
Thanks!

While we're on the topic of gauges however, what else do you guys run?

CHT Sensor locale
Jake is right, every aircooled engine should have a CHT guage. For my customers using these I machine the compression washer seal area the thickness of the sensor so the electrode doesn't end up inside the threads. Strongly recommended.
