Do not try to re-size valve seats. Yes, it can be done...especially by someone like HAM...if they were the ones installing the seats...and knew everything about those seats.
Just like drilling out the center on a valve guide (which is also an inteference fit)...to relieve tension before removing it, re-sizing a valve seat, when you don't know how tight or loose the interference fit is...will also relieve tension, possibly resulting in the seat falling out. The proper way to do this, is to re-size the seat before doing the interference fit install. But at that rate...since the seats are out...and the valves cost about the same....just change the seats and valves to the correct size anyway. Ray

cam selection
Troy I'm going to let Jake advise you on the cam selection. He's worked closely with a popular grinder to develop cams for a multitude of TypeIV combo's. With the extensive dyno testing he's done in this area he is far more qualified than I am to make a recommendation. But thanks for asking.

Re: cam selection
Thank you, Len. I've been searching the archives and there is a wealth of information out there. I think I'll put a mild (aftermarket) cam in it and see how it works. If it works ok, I'll drive it--and if I am disappointed I'll just big bore it!! Gotta start somewhere.HAM Inc wrote:Troy I'm going to let Jake advise you on the cam selection. Louie if you're staying with the stock 1.7l bore (90mm),what we went over yesterday will work just fine for you regardless of the cam you choose. Ofcourse a cam will help you take advantage of the cylinderhead mods.
I don't like going up on the intake size with the 1.7l cylinders because the valve ends up so shrouded that it's not worth the trouble,(ie. expense)
