On the Compufire, I have had one for about 2 years now, and it does the job it's supposed to do. You can examine points bounce with a timming light on the pulley, swap points for a points replacement module, and shoot the timming light again (you need to anyway as the static timming will probably have changed). There will be a difference even in a stock dizzy, the breakerless conversion is much more steady. A dizzy swap to something like the Mallory would be even better, but the Compufire is a budget way to go.
I need to add no ignition part like this will add HP unless your points were shot to begin with, it just replaces points, nothing more.
I am waiting for someone with more $$$ than me to try this little jewel:

The GM HEI ignition is a known and proven system, and "emergency breakdown/tuneup" parts are available at every K-Mart in town. Spring kits to change advance curves and tech advice on altering initial timming and total advance settings are available at most V-8 shops. However at nearly $400 each
it won't be me to try it first.

So you think your project is taking forever eh? Well you've got nothing on me.....

I was looking at that thing too!! Its nice.....
I personally am probably going to a Mallory Hyfire IV triggered by a Perfect Power ECU and Vanagon electronic distributor if possible. Those dizzys have REALLY tight shafts and don't have any parts to wear out. Ignition timming is computerized using a Perfect Power MIC3 ecu.
