PAN WIDTH AT TRAILING ARMS ??

Post by outlaw 356 »

Are all pans the same width at the trailing arms. I read somewhere that the IRS is wider that a swing axle. and is it true that an older swing axle is even narrower. I am gathering info for obtaining a pan for a VS and want the narrowest rear end possible.

Pan width?

Pre-67 swing axles or short axles have the smallest track. 67+ or long swing axles are 1in+ wider on each side, 69 starts IRS with wide track also. You can swap axles on swing type, but on IRS, not as easy to make any narrower. It can be done via cut & welding trailing arms, but ?

Never noticed and doubt that there is a difference in pan width on any bug.
