Yep, I'm going. Taking along some parts to drop off to a guy there. I was thinking of dragging along a cherry '73 T3 pan to sell. Know anyone who wants one? Title and everything.
Perso is going too. That's all I know from our neck of the woods. His car is still in pieces though. Waiting on a cam.
I'm not going to have anything running yet. I'm a slacker. You know how it is, house, seven other cars, blah blah blah.

has anyone done a type 4 motor into a type3
I want one for my squareback, a 2L with dual 44's. Is this a reasonable thing to do?

I bought a Notch just because of the T4 AN engine it had in the back, fits easy no real biggies, remember to have the T4 flywheel machined to fit a T1 pilote bearing, for the ingoing at the trans.

If you look through the archives here, you will find several on that sort of thing.
And yes it is very possible to do that sort of thing! I will have a stock Type Iv in the back of my 73 Sqaure sometime in the future(as soon as the car is finshed).

Working on a '68 T3 Square right now with a 2.0L hydraulic T4. Things to keep in mind are cooling air intake, induction, exhaust, rear cross member, pilot bushing/flywheel, and some sort of torque compensator on IRS cars (as some folks have discovered).
It's not impossible, but it is time consuming. Helps to have access to a welder too.

I'll be Auburn also - look me up !! we should get a pic of as many type4um folks together as possible. I'll have the notch there.
<< what kind of tin are you using? >>
I'm using cut and welded 914 tin. Stock bus tin will work just as well (without any cutting or welding - I just didn't have any bus tin at the time)
<< what about alternators and stuff >>
bolted right up - had to get an external regulator but that was an easy wire and some nice person emailed me with the wiring instructions and it was about a 10 minute job.
<< ny car) what di i have to fabricate? >>
about the biggest pain is fabbing some mounts for the rear cross member ( depending on your year)

With much help from a few people here that have done this type of conversion, I have a tech article that covers what needs to be done to use a Type 4 engine in the Type 3 car. Check it out here.

dan, what kind of tin are you using?
I figured there would be a problem with the 40 manifolds, what about alternators and stuff? What can I use thats stock (from any car) what di i have to fabricate?
That notch is killer, the engine compartment is looking less cluttered than a stock motor.
If i had that car here (soon enough with the squareback) I would have won pinkslips from quite a few honda boys, not to mention the mustangs etc etc.
