Syncro

Post by VWGirl »

Anyone else here have one? Are there any good repair manuals for the 4x4? I think the guy I got the van from vanished off the face of the earth... I've only met one person with a syncro, I need to know where to go when I need help!

a couple on-line sources

Even though i only have a 2wd, i'd easily recommend two starting points:

1) The vanagon mailing list
2) The syncro yahoo group

Both of these sources have quite a large membership, and it seems like syncro owners are a particularly fanatic/helpful bunch.

Good luck,

The Bentley Publishers manual is probably the best you can get. It covers all 80-91 T3's. The Bentley is very detailed and is worth the extra coin.

I own a 87 Syncro. Someparts you can get from you FLAPS. Join the Syncro group on yahoo. Also check out syncro.org and the Vanagon sites. The bently is about as good as it gets.. The sites have a listing of vendors who will know what a Syncro is.

You better be careful; they are one of the most expensive cars to own and operate there is (not just VW, ANYTHING). I have 2

really? You have two syncros? Vanagons? Any pics? You sell parts for them? I have only seen mine and one other one up in Toccoa, I think the guy lives in North/South Carolina

Hey John,

how are your vanagon hop-up projects coming? Turbos and squishies? I've still been thinking about all that for my van... even though i wouldn't be able to do it any time really soon, i think it would be an awesome upgrade in the next year or two...

just curious where you are at with those... (didn't know you had a couple syncros, too... pretty cool ride, mr. man!)

Turbo kit will be available this Spring; same with squishies. I have pics, but don't know how to post them here.

A friend has the ultimate syncro a Tri-star. A 3 door pick-up syncro, one of something like 28 built by VW. They were never officially imported to the USA.

Tri-star is a 4 door. If it has only 3 doors it is not a tri-star.... Cool truck either way. John's bumpers look very nice..
