As I peruse this site, searching for this and that, I notice that several posts include links to websites (personal and corporate) that show a visual reference to what someone is trying to explain.

Would it be possible to include either a forum or link on the opening page sidebar, that informaly lists links that are mentioned in posts (or by a request from the webmaster, for forum members to add what links the want by category. i.e. breaks, clutch, engine specs, wiring diagrams.) This would save people like Marc from reposting links, and give another resource within this site for help.

Myself, learning the ins and outs of VW maintenance from the storehouse of knowledge is graciously accepted, yet I am a visual learner. Don't get me wrong, pitfalls and personal frustration with certain procedures need first hand explainations from experience.

With their use already within the posts, consolidating them only makes sense.

I would like to get a better links section.... I'll look into it. We wouldn't be able to pull them off the posts though, probably would be entered directly by the users.

I am not suggesting an overhaul of this whole site, maybe a suggestion to each forum for posters to post a link in the 'link forum'. The admin would determine the format (i.e. postings would include what the link goes to, what is covered within the link, which Type vw, etc.), and leave participation up to the users for the actual postings. This would lead to more keyword hits, and help numbskulls like me that are looking for visual aid to go along with the sage advice.

Someone could ask: how would/could I accomplish ______, I am having problems. Return posts could explain how with an easy link to sites that have a step by step approach. This of course occurs now, yet a source for links should be logically started to let people pull from and let people add them to their own cache of links for easy reference. New ideas, redundant tasks; all would have their place within.

As I search through google for hits, along with other search engines, there doesn't seem to be a wealth of onhand working knowledge from the world of vws. With the unfortunate effort involved in making this happen, it is lacking on the net.
