Grafting a sunroof

Post by David Miskov »

Can anyone give me a rough idea of how much it would cost to have a sunroof cut out off one car a grafted onto another? Thanks.

While I was shopping for a sunroof clip(cloth style), one fellow had one for $400 (a bit high) and offered to install it for another $400.

I ended up buying one for about $250 and will try it install myself.

Does anyone know what issue that article was in that Web1302 is refering to?

Thanks
Andrew

Matt,

Very nice work!! Did you do anything with the front corner reinforcement pieces?

Your website mentioned the article is from June '98. I'm pretty sure I've got that issue at home, just got to search for it.

Thanks
Andrew

I used the instructions in my link, above.
Just take your time and measure, measure, test fit, measure & repeat. I truly spent more time on measurments and alignment than on welding. I cut the opening small intentionally, then spent a lot of time trimming. I grafted mine about 3 inches further back than stock, still turned out perfectly.
TIP: If you cut out the donor clip, leave as much surround as you can, then trim. And cut your opening slightly smaller. Pleanty easy to remove more metal, :) but if you remove too much,,,, Better safe than sorry.
