Painting the Ghia - advice?

Post by Batan »

I will be painting the Ghia soon with my brother. I have no bodywork experience but he's got some and any advice is welcome. My question is about the filler. This filler on the car is probobly few years old(car has been stored) I don't know how old but looks good. Do we need to spray it again with primer or filler? Or just prep the car and spray it.
This is the car.

Again, any advice welcome.

What type of primer is on it now? This will help determine what you do next. If spray can, then you'll need an epoxy based primer to seal it. If laquer based, then you have to decide what kind of paint to top coat it with as some are compatable and some aren't. If the current filler (bondo) hasn't popped or anything, then it might be good to go, if not, remove and replace it. Usually if its going to do something, it does it in the first 6 months. I hope this helps.
