Lacquer touch up paint

Post by orange_ghia »

I need some lacquer touch up paint for my 72 Ghia (Phoenix Red). I went to the paint store with the paint code, and the guy said he doesn't have lacquer anymore (government regs??)

Has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions??

Thanks in advance,
John

Where do you live? My local Auto Color carries lacquer, still.

I can still get it here where I live (Michigan). I have to go to my local Automotive paint supplier and have it custom mixed though. The idea is that they (the government) really doesn't want them to sell it, but it is available in small quantities for the old car restorer (paint supply's answer to that question a few years ago when I asked them). The idea is that they are trying to limit VOCs. You might want to try a different paint supply shop, and then just get them to mix you a pint. I hope this helps.
