Are 944s stub axles the same as 181 stub axles?

The stub axles and CVs from a 944 Porsche are the identical parts as the 73 and 74 VW Thing. K-mann

But at many salvage yards, the price is subject to change depending upon which car you say you need the part for!

As usual, Marc, makes an important point and give good and accurate info. For example the oil cooler for a Vanogon 72-79 is $10 in any bone yard. But if you buy a 914 oil cooler

both are OEM pn 021-117-021B the price jumps to $30 Sad for me i have no interest in riunning a used oil cooler in my new motor.

If you know the cross reference of this part it exists in lots of VWs

I just got 4 009s and a vintage 010 from a pull it yourself bone yard for $5 each because they were "points" and not electronic. They were unaware of what these were. One of the 009s had never been run and was in the back seat of a 73 Bug that had been T-Boned (sad) but it had new points, rotor and cap never run. There is only one AC VW bone yard within 200 miles of my home and I scored like that. K-mann

BtW: Marc: Have you heard from Kymco on the exhaust buy? I have been real busy and Jeff got major robbed. RW

I know the stub axles from the 85 1/2 944s and earlier are exactly the same as Type 181, but the 85 1/2 and newer could be different since the trailng arms are aluminum instead of the Beetle ones used in the early cars. The same applies to the 924. The 76-85 1/2 924s will all have Type 181 axle stubs.
