Brass gear for odometer

Post by RSEATON »

Does anyone know where you can get the brass gear to replace the plastic one that breaks and causes the odometer not to work?I have a 73 beetle with the factory speedo unit. Thanks for help

sorry I don't know where but I'm also in the market for one, i tried gluing the plastic one but that didn't last longer than a minute, I've bought a different type of super glue recently so I'm gonna try that maybe it might hold....failing that I guess you could get an old speedo from a junkyard ?

best super glue I have found is bondini 2... did this project back in middle school where we had to build balsa wood structures... had to be something like under 8 grams... we tested out lotsa super glue... bondini 2 being by far the best... although our 7 gram structure only held 250 pounds :(
