A good friend of mine built a 1776 years ago for his son, SP stock mild port heads, holly bug spray and a norris 407 cam. 67 bug mostly striped of interior, lowered with stock chrome wheels, it ran mid-15s in the quarter mile, really a go getter. Other guy's with bug's did not, would not understand how a 1776 would/could/did beat up on there 1835++cc engine with "BIG" carbs.
It is based on how the engine was built.

Hey Jake
9:1 is conservative.
Meet trhe CR with the CORRECT cam and valve sizes for the cylinder heads, and you have a recipe...otherwise, just throw in the towel before starting..

Hey Jake
Everything else I have read said that I would have to burn midgrade gas if it was set at 7.1:1 per the other posts on the forum. If it was set to 9.1:1 could I get away with running Super unleaded gas?

Hey Jake
I don't even use 7:1 CR on bus engines...
My bus engine runs at 9.1:1 and is 2200cc, pulls 7,0000 pounds like a champ with head temps just like stock!

Hey Jake
I will take your word for it. I guess I will bump it up a bit. I am just scared of running it hot. I have a set of real German tin as well as the super cool tin.I guess I will get some deck lid stand offs for the summer.

Hey Jake
Oh I forgot to tell you that I am going to stick with the 92's and leave it a 1835cc.

Hey Jake
Hi all,
This is my first post, hope it works.
I'm the guy with the 1776 in Athens.
(Thanks Jake for making me FAMOUS on this forum. hee hee)
Big Question:
Has anyone seen a full flowed motor that doesn't leak oil at the 90 degree fitting at the block???
I did the ff machining job myself and accept full responsibility for the leakage. I just want to know if there is some miracle sealer for this problem in pipe threads that leak.
Thanks
Clyde
