k jetronic
i noticed a message board above discussing the k jetronic fuel injection. what cars does it come off of or what exactly is it. it sounded like a cheap positive way to do fuel injection. what are the bonuses and negative of the system. i know very little besides knowing the name so as much info in this topic would greatly help..thanks from hawaii

The Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system was used in many different cars in the 70s and 80s. I'd say the most common place to find it is in the '77 and later VW Rabbits/Jettas. Check the wrecking yards for parts, as they are usually readily available.
It was a CIS system; that meant that the injector constantly sprayed while the car ran. It didn't spray at regular intervals like you'd expect, but it continuously fed fuel into the combustion chamber.
The K-Jetronic was a great fuel injection. The 1500 and 1600 Rabbits had a lot of power for such limited displacement and they run forever. In fact, a later development of this system, called KE-Jetronic (used in the VW 16Vs and other models) was used in the Ferrari Testarossa.

To see how a CIS FI can be fabbed up including the testing of each component: http://www.dolphinsci.com/typeIV.html
injector nozzle bosses by yours truly.
Scott Fraser is a college instructor and
is really versed on this subject.

For one example of it on a Type IV motor (the system was bought from Miller), check http://members.rennlist.com/evill/ed1.htm

OK, Bobtail, you peaked my interest. How are those cams driven? Do the 944 pistons have 24mm wrist pins? How does your distributor trigger the motorcycle coils? I am assuming the coils have built-in ignitors. Description please.
Much abliged,

The coils are triggered using a mallory distributor with a fibre disc coated with copper and it uses the low tension side to fire the coils.think of the disc as the contact breaker.
the signal is amplified by a "built" control box.
I think the wrist pins are 24 but I'm not sure I will check.
Keep askin'
