I'm toying with the idea of making a 2F1R three wheel custom using a Type I engine/transaxle. It will be front engined with a flipped diff ring in the transaxle.
My first obstacle is getting the physical outer size of these two crucial components. I just need the size of the long block without the fan housing. I will be fabricating the cooling tin using a crank mounted fan.
I have not been able to find any source that can tell me what kind of clearance I need to allow for either the engine or transaxle.

Three wheel custom
something for you to look at to draw ideas from. www.corbinmotors.com they have a trike like you discribed but they run a harley motor, but they do use a vw trans. it is called the merlin. you can look at the product pictures and if you look at the daily news (you can go back from the begining of the conception of the car) you can see a bunch of pics on how it is set up. they wont sell any of the suspension parts (or any parts for that mater) seperatly so dont even try (i already did and wasnt to warmly recieved)
good luck

Three wheel custom
That is a pretty trick trike, but I want a two seater with a roof, heat, a/c kind of thing. I was planning on removeable (and stowable) gullwing type doors for those nice spring and fall days.
