How much do I trim the spring plate for more travel? I am using type IV joints, a bus trans, and stock sized arms in a Baja.
Thank you for any information.

Hi . can`t say exactly how MUCH to trim but can pass along a pointer concerning it. DO NOT NOTCH the plate. This will set up a weakness. Use an arc(curved or semi-circle) contour. No weak spot from which to tbe stressed. Good luck. Bob Ingman

I have heard of dudes giong with +/- 9/16". Like Bob said,,,do it in an arc or crescent shape for a smooth transition and torsion transfer, otherwise it WILL break at the notch.
Ot just spend the $ for an adjustable set of sway a ways.

I raidiused my inner spring plates 9/16"and it works fine. I don't know if I'd be comfortable doing this to a single spring plate set up but others have done it with success.

If you are using the larger CV's both inner and outer, then yes you can increase the travel, BUT NO Do Not Notch your T1 spring plates. Vic. www.1800vw.com

I am running double arm plates. Mine are notched at least 3/4". No problems in the 3 yrs I have been pounding them. Your real concern is your cv angle, don't max them out.
