bus box into bug front mount

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

I used a dead 1303 mount with the rubber burnt off, then made the plate to attach to the nose cone with the gearbox mocked into place with wooden blocks etc. 1303 type was the one that attaches with two chassis bolts under the torsion tube if their not all like that. just welded the lot together for a solid mount. one bit of 5mm plate and some 1" box as i remember, + two holes for the bolts into gearbox. In a way I just got rid of the rubber from a stock mount and made the new stuff v. HD.

hope that helps mikey!

No not yet, I've got a lot of inertia around at the moment in the form of a bug in the garage (both H channels, rear quarters and f/r valances welded up in return for a new PC) and the back parlour needing plastering and painting (not a euphamism for fudge packing I might add! lol). When all this is out of the way I can get started with the buggy, hurrah! I'll get in touch with them then. Had a look on the warrior buggy site and they do tabs for attaching stuff to the frame + a gear change mount.........which is nice, cos I was thinking I was going to spend weeks filing bits of metal. Yack.

Have you started the gbox conversion yet or are you at the bench racing stage?
