With Turbo and Super charging you can create massive horsepower with vw motors.

Hi all. Well every day I get a little bit closer to getting this supercharger set up working. I now have a very strong idle, good throttle response and a nice power increase over stock but still have one small issue to over come and that’s a rich spot in the rpm band.
In neutral if I increase the rpm over and over again in steps of 100 rpm and hold it at each step for a period of time all is good except for when I reach 2,200 rpm. At this rpm the the engine sounds unstable and you can see black smoke coming out of the exhaust. This condition starts at 2,200 and it ends at around 2,500rpm. All rpms above and below this range the engine sounds great and crisp, is only between 2,200 and 2,500 rpm the engine goes rich. Does this mean the mains are coming in to early or the idle are not cutting out in time?
The idles I have are .60 and mixture screw are out 1 3/4 turns for best idle. Any advice?

Thank you

Possibly the emulsion tubes. These set the relative richness over the rev range. If you very clever you can modify them with solder & tiny jet drills.

Hi all. The supercharger is up and running and running g well. I have just one more issue to over come and that’s manifold icing. So any idea on how to solve this. Please see the photos

When I was young and drove my street legal sand rail in all weather with dual IDF's I would wrap the manifolds with that black rubbery self adhesive that is used on air conditioner line sets.
Kinda messy when removed when nicer weather came along, but it did the trick.
The older I get, the faster I was.

Cheers Alexander. I will give that a go
