71 Baja build

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

One thing on the inside mounted fuel tank is the possibility of fuel spillage inside of the car and their fumes and possibility of fire. On my open body dune buggy with the tank mounted in the rear of the passenger compartment I put a fairly large drainage hole for both the fuel line and potential drainage/spilling to flow out of.

I don't remember hearing of a fire in a buggy but that doesn't mean it can't happen either.

For what it is worth.

Well, I have gotten a bit more done recently. Gauges mounted in new dash Switchpros wired. The whole car is all wired up now. I got my fuel fill set about where it's going to be. The fuel vent/rollover is run out at the bottom of the car. The air filter is mounted and the tubing is all run. Switched over to some Tensor 35's. The rear fenders are mounted up. I have about 100 street miles on it so far. Cut out some vents on the front end for some air flow, but I need to change the material I used, it doesn't allow enough airflow.

Well, it was a fun build......... Took a hard hit on the driver's side and twisted the front end and got into the A-pilar a bit. Shes mostly parted out now, and a stronger car coming out soon.

Nice work.

Sorry to hear about the dam(n)age.

I am sure the next one will be better based on all of what you learned on this one.
