Re: getting closer
Ah the Black Box... Those were the days. Never had a more solid idle and timing curve. Paired with the Magnaspark II, that was a smooth running 1500. What cable are you using for the BB?? I had an RS232/USB converter cable. I think I had purchased a couple before finding one that worked.
Boost is contagious.

Re: getting closer
I had the same issue with finding the right cable to work with the blackbox.
Even with my cb gen4 i can only run my laptop to ecu via 1 usb port on my laptop. The other 2 don´t connect...

Re: getting closer
I bought the right cable. The problem is that if you don't get the cable with a genuine prolific chipset, the newer drivers won't recognize it. Windoes 7 has ver 5. I want to roll back to ver 2. Windows wants to keep the newest version. Comm port 3 works, just not with this cable/driver combo. Soooo frustrating

Re: getting closer
I've been fighting with this for 2 weeks. I just ordered a genuine chipset cable. If it doesn't make a difference I might take it to a computer place. I think the cable will fix it.

Re: getting closer
There are two major chipsets for usb-serial converters. As used in many microcontrollers like the ESP32 range. Maybe worth installing the drivers for both?

Cb delivers a driver for the usb on the accompanying disc, did you install that. I also bought the USB to data cable from Cb.
And than it works, Must say for only one USB socket on the laptop that is true.

With tuner studio and other serial app like Putty, you perform a search for a device on the available ports and select it. Switching devices means another search.

Re: getting closer
I'm using an old laptop running Windows 7. The driver that comes with the black box didn't work. I got the driver on the web from the prolific site to work. The computer recognizes the cable correctly now. Problem now is that I can't assign/change ports. It requires editing the registry. I haven't found which driver to edit yet to give myself permissions. I am the administrator but regedit is still needed. So stupid. If I go to 6BTM, it uses the same cable. The black box software is pinging the box but not connecting. I need to probe the box for power. That's my hail Mary. What an ordeal this box has been.

Update! Black box and streetfire box both gone. Got the 6al-2 programmable with the 2 bar map sensor. Box connects to the laptop no problem. I need to go into datapro software and make a timing map and a boost retard map. Anyone here use that software and want to share a pic of their curves? Timing and boost retard curves, not your wife. LOL

Re: getting closer
I wonder if you could start off with a 009 or 010 distributer map and then it depends on the engine but a general rule of thumb is to retard 1 degree per psi.

Success! Fired up on the first try. I need to set the float height and make a few adjustments but at least it starts. I did pull 1 degree for each pound of boost and retarded for startup. So excited to get it going. It's been a long year to get to this point.
