Stock ECU mounting

Post by Wags74 »

Hi all,

I'm slowly working on installing a 2.2 SOHC from a '96 impreza into my '70 Baja. I'm deciding where and how to mount the ECU. I understand that it has to be facing the same direction as it was originally but I can't determine if it can be mounted on its edge. I was thinking about a making a panel to go in the cavity next to the passenger seat. Any reason why this wouldn't work?

Thanks,

Ron

Why does the orientation of the ECU matter?

If it has some form of yaw sensor inside? That’s about the only reason I can think of but that’s more likely to be linked to the abs / stability module.

1996 wouldn't have any of that. Mount the ECU where it is convenient.

Thanks for the replies. I seem to remember reading it somewhere, I thought in the long conversion thread on this site. I could very easily be wrong about it though.

Thanks again.
