hey guys i'm just finishing up a new engine build along with swapping to a bus trans in my sand rail. my initial plan was to have the it running full sequential fuel injection and ignition this year but time got away from me and my plan for intake didn't work out. now i want to just throw a set of carbs on it and at least get my ignition up and running so i drive it some before winter. i have speeduino fishdog with harness , crank trigger and cam sync from cb performance, spartan 2 wideband from 14point7 and ls coils. what else do i have to have just for ignition for now and how do i wire this all together? first question my coils have 4 wires yet the diagrams i'm finding from speeduino only show how to wire up 3 wire smart coils. 2nd the directions from 14point7 say not to power up the wideband controller till after the engine is running but the ecu only has 1 wire labeled for the o2 sensor can i trigger a relay to the alternator idiot light it doesn't activate until its charging? or is there a better way to delay it? 3. the ecu doesn't have separate relay trigger wires only 1 labeled for the fuel pump can i safely trigger the fuel pump and coil relays both from this wire ? and last for now the list of wires shows 2 spare inputs could 1 of these be used as an oil pressure gauge? i know some if not all of this may sound stupid but i'm just jumping into it and learning as i go while reading what i can find and watching utube but the plan is to get the engine broken in and have some fun with it then over the winter start over on the intake and have it efi and turbo by next spring
thanks for any advice

Re: speeduino ignition install?
I'm used to Megasquirt so not sure what Speeduino requires. When I ran ignition only on MS-1 way back in 2011 I had only a few wires needed.jpryorx2 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 9:21 pm hey guys i'm just finishing up a new engine build along with swapping to a bus trans in my sand rail. my initial plan was to have the it running full sequential fuel injection and ignition this year but time got away from me and my plan for intake didn't work out. now i want to just throw a set of carbs on it and at least get my ignition up and running so i drive it some before winter. i have speeduino fishdog with harness , crank trigger and cam sync from cb performance, spartan 2 wideband from 14point7 and ls coils. what else do i have to have just for ignition for now and how do i wire this all together? first question my coils have 4 wires yet the diagrams i'm finding from speeduino only show how to wire up 3 wire smart coils.

It used an EDIS module and coil which put a PIP/Saw into the ECU, power, ground and I also used a IAT and coolant sensor from a GM.
Your coil can be powered by the stock wire that powers it.
The ECU can be powered from a switched ignition power source.
The ECU will use two wires for firing the coil if it's wasted spark since it is actually two separate double sided coils. The coil will need an ignition power source, a ground and two signal wires for spark A and spark B. Power can be from the ignition or you can use a relay.
My VW style 4 post coil draws so little power it's not any issue at all.
Most Widebands are powered by the ignition key so they turn on when you turn the key. Just don't leave the key on without starting the engine. If you wire it differently you might forget to turn it on and that is worse in my opinion.
Any temp sensors you run will have two wires mostly. Sensor ground goes to a dedicated sensor ground from the ECU and the other wire is the signal wire to the correct ecu pin.
IAT sensor and coolant temp sensor are the two to run with ignition only.
For crank fire you will need a VR or Hall sensor and a 36-1 trigger wheel which you have from CB. The cam sync is useless without fuel injection and not worth the trouble and complexity when using FI......in my opinion.
If you are using an electric fuel pump then you can use the FP trigger wire from the ecu which will run for a couple seconds at key on and then run continuously in start and run modes until loss of rpm signal.

Re: speeduino ignition install?
A quick google of “LS coil pinout” will give you the answer & wiring order.
There are two grounds, one for the signal wire, which goes back to the ECU and the other is the spark ground, which should go to another chassis ground or the engine block.

Re: speeduino ignition install?
i was able to talk to speedyefi which is who i bought it from and they said that the signal ground wire on the coil needs to be grounded directly to the head for each coil. with running carbs temporally where is a good spot for the iat sensor? also where are you guys mounting the clt sensor? i found a guy that is going to build my new plenum but it won't be till over the winter so im hoping to just get the engine broken in and maybe a few trail rides on it before winter. by spring the plan is turbo with full sequential fuel and spark
