Fuel pump rebuild kit question

For a 66-69 type 1 four screw top fuel pump, I have a rebuild kit and question about the pressure valve, The small disc and small spring. The one in the kit has a grated hole and rubber disc where as the old disc is hard plastic. I probably wouldn't be replacing this but when I dissasembled it the ring, disc and spring fell out. I kind of feel like putting the old ones back but want to make sure it stays in there. Any information, suggestions welcomed. Thank you.

I checked the new ring-retainer for the pressure valve and it is too loose so I'll use the old parts here . It appears to have a peen mark to lock it in before . maybe it needs a couple of more? Also the main diaphragm rod seems to be shorter with respect to the arm . It would be closer if I just contacted it with the metal washer and not the plastic and metal ones.
