Re: Turbo/EFI Baja
I would but Aircooled.net is basically shut down right now to catch up on orders so that options out. For now. I don’t mind the beehives and I may go that way and build a 90.5 x78 stroker as I can use the heads I have for some cost savings.

Assuming that valve top that siezed your engine didn't destroy the chamber too. Definitely big potential for that unfortunately.

Without having to research it all again...what is your cam and rocker combo???
Those look like stock pushrods and it is possible with that style end it ran out of travel and bound up at full lift in the rocker cup. That would bend the push rod and cause all kinds of pain and agony.....

Re: Turbo/EFI Baja
That pushrod was black. Stock ones are raw aluminum. Looks like one of the cheap chromoly pushrods. My bet is that a valve spring broke, valve hit piston, bent pushrod and knocked it's head off. Lucky it only happened on one.Clonebug wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 11:20 am Without having to research it all again...what is your cam and rocker combo???

Re: Turbo/EFI Baja
I have some cromoly pushrods and they have the different style ends which allow more angle for the rocker cup......It would pay to check the clearances.
It could be those rockers don't have the clearance for that style pushrod end.
I have three used sets of 88mm P/C's if you want any of them.....I can't say they are good but if you want a single or even the box I can get you them.

Oooh! That's a good offer! Let's get him back on the road! I'm looking for a set of springs as we speak!

Re: Turbo/EFI Baja
I would question the spring thing. I never had any sign of valve float with .526" lift with my W-100 and 1.4 rockers. You only lifting to .500 should not have an issue since your cam is pretty mild.
Even now with the CB 650 outers and .522" lift I haven't seen any sign of it....not that I've pushed it too hard.

Dang it. I don't have any extra springs. Anyone have a decent set of HD singles? I will still send my head tool so he can get them swapped.

Buguy I appreciate you looking! I’ll buy some high rev singles no issues
Clone- unless it’s an unseeable clearance issue everything moves free and have plenty of clearance.
I may very well be taking you up on the piston offer.
As for the bent push rod I am not even more concerned cause the valve damage is on cylinder 4.
The bent pushrod came from cylinder 3. Just need to get the head off and see what I did. Maybe I’ll get it next weekend.
If all else fails I can go back to 85.5 pistons and cylinders and my old heads. At least I’ll have full flow and a new cam

Re: Turbo/EFI Baja
Sorry for your engine damage, I plan to use beehive springs on my next engine there seems to be several advantages to them.
Please let us know what all parts you need, pretty sure that most of us have a few parts laying around that could use a new home.
Good Luck
