What you guys are forgetting is that I was running almost 25psi on pump gas. Straight up Chevron 91 octane. No methanol, no ethanol, nada. Try that with flat tops. That said, I would still go 92 for the thick walls, not because of warping, but strength. You tend to find limits when you lean on them. If timing wasn't perfect, my setup would torch cylinders. I think I've gone through half a dozen or so cylinders in the years I've been running them, dyno time would be a very wise investment here.
All that said, I'm switching to flat tops for my current refresh, hoping to get rid of some engine noise that I think is related to my set of squishies. I'll just keep it on e85 and let it rip. If you have easy access to e85 I personally wouldn't waste the $$$ on squishies. If pump gas is all you have access to, they are probably a worthwhile investment.

Re: Forged Piston Advice
I have recently come to grips with the fact that "It never ends"

And the internal debate continues...do I want to rely on E85 staying available in my area? Or do I go with a safety net and use the squishies, always knowing I can fill up with pump gas? Decisions, decisions...Chip Birks wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 3:23 pm If you have easy access to e85 I personally wouldn't waste the $$$ on squishies. Are you setup for water/meth already? That's half the reason I made the change. My water meth has been in my car since day one, yet I think I've had it active for maybe half an hour of drive time. I just never needed it. I plan to let it do its thing in the future.

I have a kit sitting on my workbench, so while it's not installed and running, it's available for use.

Im running the AA forged 94mm P&C in my Bonneville land speed car. I had them honed for .0057 clearance and set the rings at .022 &.024. I’ve run 22 lbs of boost for 3 full miles wide open throttle. They seem like a good piston to me.

You don't need TW 92s for just 20 psi

You might if your tune gets off a little bit. Thicker cylinders are more forgiving to an extent.
