Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

So, I didn't want to be the guy boasting about someone elses work... so I didnt plan on posting a build thread on this one... but since NeighborJoe and Leathernuts cant seem to leave well enough alone....

I had been looking for a 4 seater car to replace our LS2 2 seat Chenowth. My hope was to save up enough to buy a driver. I loved the build of the last roller I got... but freetime with two babies is pretty much non existent.

I found this basically as a complete car less motor and trans.

2005 Desert Dynamics.
All 4130, MIG chassis, TIG suspension
Coilover Bypass on all 4 2.0/2.5
2.0 hollow ftont
Microstub Rear
Here's a quick photo dump from sale ad pics to current:

I spent the last few months collecting up the motor and trans.

The motor I found a mild LS1. 706 heads, a little cam (supposedly, I haven't heard it run yet.) Less poop than my last car made, but it'll do for now. I'll be just slow rolling around with my babies for a bit anyway.

The trans is a MD4S-2D. This ones geared a bit low for hardpack running, but I hope to upgrade in a season or two anyway.

Immediate plan is just to get the car to the desert for our first scheduled trip in November.

About time Motormouth, this looks fun. Maybe if I lucky I’ll get a ride in this one. Going to get plates for it?

I wish you could have ridden in the last one. Friggun rocket. I will say, Neighbor Joes baja handled whoop sections noticably better. I never got around to corner weighting and properly springing/valving.

I dont plan on getting plates on this. Id love to do some of the longer runs with you guys in my dailydriver bronco or even my hooptie baja, but most my use for this will be Glamis.

Lol. Basically.
This one came to me as a roller with raw steel. No biggie though as I intend to do some cut/grind/weld stuff that would have me recoating everything anyway.
