any ideas on getting a bus home?
allright, i went to look at a 67 camper today and it looks like im going to purchase it. ive got a dolly but no truck. if i cant con one of my friends into towing it for me how would i go about getting it home? its about 5 hours from my house. are there places where u can rent a heavy duty pickup for a decent price? anybody do this with a U-Haul truck and a dolley? just looking for some suggestions

yes you can rent a uhaul to tow it, but they say if you are going to tow something, you have to rent a certain size truck.
i don't remember what size they said when i checked it out.
FWIW, when considering milage and gas for those things, it might be worth it to offer 100$ to a buddy to tow it. might be cheaper in the long run.

i towed a 76 westy 300 miles with a u-haul tow dolly pulled by my 240 volvo wagon, which is a 6cyl diesel. it was slow going, but it made it fine.
the uhaul dolly is fine for the van, pulled no sweat. i'd disconnect the drive shafts to be safe.
