Alternator confusion

Does anybody out there have the instructions for bypassing the votage regulator in a 71 trans. I am putting in an alternator and would like to do it right the first time.

Actually, you will just remove it. Look at the factory wiring diagram. What wires are on the regulator are pretty much the smae as those that go to the alternator and the alternator regulator. The legends and functions...ie: D+, D- and color codes are the same. You will probably have to lengthen some. Ray

The alternator B+ needs to be connected to the positive battery post (you can use the original generator harness, just splice the red wire that was D+ to the red B+ wire that goes to the battery); connect the green wire that was the generator's DF wire to the alternator's warning light terminal (61) and splice the other end to the blue wire that was on the regulator Terminal 61. The brown ground wire that's left over can be connected to the screw on top of the alternator housing and to the body (using one of the old regulator mounting screws).

Thanks Marc,

My alternator is the type with an internal regulator. So the markings are different than the stock regulator. That was just what I was looking for.
