Spare tire mount

Ok, have I seen two different spare tire mounts?
Or is there one that I've seen modified sometimes?
I've seen and have the one that mounts the tire with the rim facing the bus.(ugly without the cover)
I've also seen a few where the tire mounts facing outward so the hubcap can be put on.
It seems that longer bolts would convert the "backwards" mount.
Just wondering.

I've got the ugly one. Not so ugly if you go to a junk yard & find a 14" hub cap you can live with. They mount on the wrong side of the wheel OK.

Yeah, I've got the ugly one...
So, since I want to show a VW hubcap on the front I'm going to replace the bolts with 7" ones...
Then I'll just have to be careful when I pull the engine to make shure she doesn'y nose over from the weight change.
