best way to put the engine in a 68
ok, being that the tranny on the 68-71 bays have no front mount and a "moustache bar" that holds the engine, which in turn supports the tranny....should i go ahead and put the tranny in first and then the engine or all at once?...(like engine connected to the tranny and jack it in place) which is the best way?.....all info appreciated thanks

The best way is probably to put them in as a unit, but it's pretty unwieldy without a trans jack. Most people put the trans in and support it with a jackstand to take the strain off of the front mount until the engine is bolted on and lifted into place

I have installed (and removed) both ways. Always, and I mean A L W A Y S, easier as one unit. A good floor jack will suffice for lifting into place. Have a buddy there to help. I jack the rear up a little (and use jack stands!) to provide more working room.

I have a severe hatred of CV bolts, so I always drop the engine by itself and place the tranny on a separate jack to hold it up.
Even in later bays I still do not drop the tranny.
