Just picked up a '78 Westy Champain edition for cheap. Its a rust bucket and I'm going to pick it clean like a vulture on a carcass.
I'm taking the engine and tranny to keep, I don't need the camper interior, (well except a few bits). I need the steering column, has a brown dashboard (never seen that before).
If anyone local (Vancouver BC, Canada -- you have to pick stuff up) has any specific requests, I may be able to accomodate. Let me know what you want, I'm sure we can work things out. My intention is to keep most of the good stuff as backup (ie fuel pump, gas heater components etc), but at the right price, anything is possible.
Has the '78 fridge which I don't need. If anyone wants the top for a conversion, I don't want that either, although fabric isn't good.
Once I've pulled stuff I need, I may post an inventory of stuff left behind if any seems interested in picking some stuff up.

Derek, is the rear bed cushion decent. The one over the engine. What color? MIne io ok but is red and not a match to the tan westy cushions of the Z-bed.Cabinet on pass side.
Also there is a guy in my area with a set of Mercedes alloys for sale(fits 71 later van). They are mounted with good 205x14 tires. He wants $200 for all. I`m in Portland Or.
I have a brown Champaign Edition 78 at home but cant think of anything I need for it but could use the cushion for my 70 ASI Riviera. Let me know about the cushion. Thanks and Good Luck. Bob

Ok, thanks guys. I'll give you some more details:
The 'donor' Van is a '78 champaign edition -- has the poo brown dash and steering wheel. I have the back cushion, also have the cushions for the upper bunk with uphostery, so I've got lots of that wonderful plaid. what colour plaid? Kind of a tawny beige plaid? Not the green, not the orange ... If anyone can identify ...
Back cushion fabric is good, the foam is kind of shot, easier to ship just the cover and get new foam cut anyways.
Do not have table, do not have the support, do have the support brackets.
Do have the cabinets running down the side, there is a fridge (not sure if it works), have the folding back seat and seat bottom. There is a closet cabinet. Cabinet is westfalia, the one without the gas range. Previous owner got rid of a couple of doors, the one where the spare tire was supposed to go is missing, and the big one under the sink is gone, replaced with particle board and a big ugly speaker. All the drawers are there.
Have the rubber from the bumper, front looks good, back may be broken, if they are both good, I'm going to keep, if not, the front is up rubber strip is up for grabs, I think those are rare and can be expensive.
Has complete BA6 system, which I was going to keep as backup, but if someone has the right price it might go out...
Has 4 185R14P reinforced (1700lbs load rating) tires, with some tread. Not worth shipping, but someone local may want. Not sure I want to take the wheels off until its towed away though!
If anyone can match the plaid, the fabric would be worth having as back up for re-uphostery.
Not looking to make a bunch of $$, but would be nice to recycle as much as I can, rather than throw stuff out. When a loved one dies, we can sooth our grief to know that her death has helped others live.
Finally, I must say that I'm having a blast pulling stuff off. Found that it had a bunch of curtain retaining straps and was busy mounting them in Gretchin, and the rear window defrost works, so that's going in my Van too. Its like X-mas come early.

Van BC -- Parts Bus, need anything ??
Derek,
We have a '78 Bus that HAD a plaque on the dash saying "25th Anniversary" does that bus have one? It was mounted above the ashtray--I removed mine to drill holes for the gauges in the dash.
I would like to get another
thank

I need the table and the supporting rod as I am missing both. Email me if you have it with price. I'll have a friend pick up next time she's in the area(she's a truck driver)
THANKS! I've been looking everywhere !

no anniversary plaque.
I didn't say the dash was crummy brown, but said it was 'poo brown' only with the intent of properly identifying the colour.
The recipient vehicle is pumpkin orange with that lovely 70's orange-green-brown-black plaid fabric interior.
Somehow the colours must have made sense at the time !?!?
But, for me the tacky colour scheme is part of the appeal of these things, to me anyways. I just wish I could properly replace the original orange carpets and original orange, cream, brown and black plaid curtains which are suffering mightily from UV damage.
If I had a champaigner, I'd probably enjoy the poo brown dash as part and parcel of the thing -- the price paid for intermittent wipers and chrome in the window rubber.

Well that is better now I can tell the wife wife come ride in the van we will look awesome with the poo brown dash.....
I think the 70's ( cant remember from all the dope I smoked ) was a time for some weird colors, Maybe VW experimented with LSD at the factory

Rich: Tell her you have intermittent wipers! Not to mention the padded steering wheel. That's special, and poo brown was obviously deluxe in the '70's.
Oh, You should also be able to brag about the VDO clock, if not, make me an offer and you can buy the one I pulled out. I'm going to put in a tach instead.
