I've been looking at replacing the engine and tranny in my Bus, and need some info in regards to what combination works well. I do need a 12v scenario. I would prefer just buying a turnkey 1600 (single) or 1776 (dual) engine from somewhere like GEX, but need to know what tranny to put with it.
Thanks in advance for any input!

Engine/Trans options
before buying an engine, I'd suggest doing a search in here on the name of the vendor you are considering. While everyone has an opinion, freely offered, you may learn something valuable about the various providers. My recollection is that the provider starting with a 'g' isn't well regarded... although I have no personal experience.
check John's engines at www.aircooled.net, and Boston Bob at www.bostonengine.com, who is well regarded for stock engines.
finally, don't forget Jake Raby at www.aircooledtechnology.com for a really fine tuned high performance engine, type 1 or type 4.
There are others, but do some research on the vendors to avoid heartache... saving a few hundred dollars isn't worth a bad engine.

Thanks for the tip, and the links! I guess they will help me with my particular application (hopefully).
