Hi there,
I'm still gathering parts for my conversion over to FI and wanted some opinions. Here are the specs of my motor and what I currently have and my current plans.
Current Engine Setup:
Case: AS41 tapped for full flow.
Crank: CB 82mm forged
Cam: Web 86b
Pistons: Mahle 94mm
Heads: CB ultra mag 42x37 w/ match ported manifolds
Compression: 9.5:1cr
Rockers: Scat 1.4
Carbs: Dual Weber 48 IDF
Dist: Mallory
Ign system: Mallory 6AL (w/built-in adjustable rev limiter)
Exhaust: A-1 Sidewinder
Future State:
Megasquirt MS3X v3
German Plenum and stock TB or possibly custom intake with single throttle body (Already have the German plenum and stock TB, but not sure if I'm going to use it, recommendations on other TBs that you've tried and liked)
CB Performance Fuel Injection manifolds
Injectors (haven't purchased but thinking about either 32# or 40# injectors. Would like ideas on what I can pick up from the junkyard or good quality inexpensive new works)
Dub Shop Cam Sync (need to purchase)
Dubshop crank trigger and pulley
Dubshop COP with Quadspark
Fuel Pump and fuel filter (haven't purchased, any ideas on what's good quality at a good price)
Questions I have are: What injectors should I go for and should I use the German Plenum or build my own and use a different TB. No plan to go turbo. Am I missing anything. Still collecting parts, but mostly there and looking to start implementing this summer.
Thanks for the help!!! Love STF!!!

I don't know for sure, but the stock throttle body and plenum may not flow enough for your 2276.
Have you considered swapping the IDFs for some IDF throttle bodies? You could probably retain your intakes and linkage.. and save you the work of match porting those efi end castings. ...Or, a single centermount IDF throttle body and go ahead and utilize those end castings.

If I went with IDF TBs, I'm assuming then that I should get the ones with injector mounts in the TB. If I went that route, what size IDF TBs should I be looking for?

Re: Looking to start my conversion to Megasquirt
You have a very similar build to mine.
My motor:
-82x94
-Web 86B
-Steve Tims Stage 2 Heads
-Super Squish pistons with 10:1 CR
-40mm CB TB's with injectors in the CB EFI IDF manifolds - I also have a set of 48mm TB's, but 40's should be plenty
-1-5/8" A1 Sidewinder
-Crank Trigger ignition with LS2 Coils from Mario (batch fire for now, will go sequential eventually)
I went with 30# injectors as recommended from Mario.
Hope that helps!

Get a set of injectors you can grow into a little.timvr6 wrote:Hi there,

I would get 45-50 Lb. injectors.
32# limits yo u to about 195 hp at 85% DC and you could possibly be getting close to that if it is a fire breathing engine and you rev it high enough......well the OC guys say they will......

I recommend you get 45-50 lb. injectors for a little headroom so you only have to buy once.
I have my 32# injectors maxed out with a 1679cc engine.
For junk yard fuel pumps you can look at Volvos and BMW's for a Bosch pump.
Mine came from a 94 Volvo Turbo Wagon and has worked well for me. The newer cars now might have in tank pumps that will not work unless you modify your tank. I think "Chip" on the forum did a nice mod to use that system but it might be more than you want to tackle. I used a VW Golf filter just because it fit my mounting better and the inlet and outlet was the correct size.

If you want a single TB intake you can use the CB Performance hi flow stock style injector intakes and just build a Tee centerpiece with a 50 mm TB.
That would be the simplest intake but might not flow as much a dual TB intake.
It would be a lot cheaper to build and depending on your hp expectations would probably make a nice driver out of it.
The older Volvo's and BMW's have TB's but all the new stuff now have "Drive by Wire" electronic TB's.
For more power you can just force feed it with a turbo.................

For a regulator any VW Bosch style will work from a FI bug to a Vanagon. They will put out the 43 psi that is needed for our FI. As Pile says Summit sells the same one online that you can buy new.
