This is much better than my VDO speedo, after the time it spent sitting, it is off considerably. The odometer seems to be fairly accurate, but the mph is way off. I'm glad I purchased it, much less cost than a GPS speedo to replace the VDO.

DigiHUD is a free android GPS app. Works good. No adds or bloatware.

It has a HUD heads up display feature to reverse the display and reflect it off the windshield. I don't bother with that and just prop the phone up regular style.

I might splash out on one of those android touchscreen tablets, they're virtually giving them away and with these bluetooth ecu data transmitter/loggers available you could have a full trip dashboard that datalogs and no wiring plus it'd double up as handsfree phone if you chucked your sim in there

I use my android phone with a bluetooth OBD-II dongle in my truck (RaM), I use the Torque app to monitor ECU data. It works quite well. They have both free and pay version. I use a speedometer app on my iPhone as my speedo is inaccurate after a tire upgrade.

I'm not messing with the phone as I don't want to buy a mount and hookup power, this uses velcro, it will never leave this car and it is on switched power, so it is automatic in it's operation. Just like the VDO, only a little or a lot more accurate(speed dependent). And there's no need for data logging sh*t in this car, so this is the most advance electronics in the car and the radio is next(a 1980's vintage w/ cassette deck that I've been too afraid to stick one into it, as the radio works and I don't want to lose that).

Don't blame you not wanting electronic dash clutter -I have 3 aircooleds and only 2 have oil temp and pressure gauges no tachs even the other is a bone stock 1600 with carb and has nothing. Be nice just to have a tablet to chuck in for a quick look on the EFI stuff

I have gauges, just not an accurate speedo. And aside from the mylar on the windshield, I can't see the unit from the driver's seat, it's behind the rim of the steering wheel. Also when headed directly into the setting sun, it gets washed out, but that is a minor issue.

I've had Garmin GPS's for years (currently running three of their Nuvi 355/365) and they all experience some difficulty in picking up a signal on a cloudy day. Usually it's just a matter of a minute or so's delay, but once in a while I can be 5 miles from home by the time it starts working. Normally the speed displayed is very accurate, but response to change can be sluggish on weak-signal days - tachometer's more reliable then.
