Is E10 ethanol gas OK for my classic Beetle or ?

I was buying my gas at Sams Discount Warehouse here in Lawton, OK USA before they changed to E10 gas.
So, I topped of my '73 Beetle at a Shamrock station, owned by Valero, and I could feel the difference. It was suposed to be pure gas and must be.
The old girl had more power.
Sams must not have as powerful of gasoline especially now that it is E10 gas.
