Anyone want to share their ECU's responses to Q and S? I'm having trouble finding a good example of those responses. At least they are reliably talking though.

Megatunix tends to be a firmware rev or two behind, and there have been recent changes in the MS2E/MS3 serial protocol.

TunerStudio is free to use, minus some advanced (really freaking nice, but non essential) features.

BUT: For what you are doing minicomm will work perfectly, that way you don't have an unnecessary layer of software trying to parse stuff.

It actually looks like MTX worked, something just returned a MS FW version it doesn't recognize.

Yea the comms work really nice, I looked up the spec for MS2/Extra and I've been working through the com protocol command by command trying to implement them all.

My ECU is what returned those values. I can set it to whatever but I cant seem to find a valid signature/revision values anywhere online and my MS2 is refusing my USB to Serial adapter it seems or else I would copy its

Gotcha.

I have my MS3 CPU reinstalled and running well, so I have a MS2 setup for the bench, will play tomorrow.

Given that your ECU will have more/different features than just MS2E, I'll also slurp some current (Pre1.4A7) MS3 responses for you? IIRC it allows pulling and pushing just individual memory or flash blocks.
(perhaps MS2E as well, no idea on the B&G code have never used it)

Yea it would probably be good to see some MS3 coms as well. People seem to indicate the protocol is exactly the same to the MS2E but then talk about a checksum on A. They also say it's backwards compatible so IDK and of course their documentation is broken.

Do you have a list of commands you want tested?

Just a run through both interrogations would be nice. That's a good crossection. If they come up wildly different I may want to see more data but at that point I may bug B&G about fixing the link to their documentation.

Pulled down a debug commlog, seems the best way to see all the verbose info.
ack on the laptop still in the car.

Prototype came in today. Gotta build a harness to connect to the jimstim so I can get some initial testing out of the way.

Any updates?

If all else fails, turn it into a general purpose datalogger or PLC setup.

You"ll sell a ton to Makers
