So here's the 1000-word picture. Actually a TS project archive including this mornings data-log.

http://www.maxwelton2k.net/tech/squareb ... .16.tsproj

The log shows a nice AFR tracking AFR Target 1 up to about time 748 where AFR gets real ragged for a stretch. There's another ugly patch running from 851 to around 889.

It comes and goes.

So I just ran a short test. The idea was to disable EGO and let the engine idle until one of the cylinders dropped out. Then, by pulling one spark-plug wire at a time, then one injector plug at a time, determine which cylinder had dropped and also whether spark or fuel was involved.

But after 20 minutes of steady idling, nothing had happened. RPM and AFR were just flat lines. So I started poking at things. As soon as I touched the #3 injector plug RPM dropped and AFR took a little ragged step up.

It's those junk-yard connectors. I suppose I got my money's worth.

I hope you are right. I hate chasing ghosts in the FI machine! I have better things to do.

Mine is doing a similar thing but it goes rich instead of lean. I reloaded my tune and that seemed to fix it (had been muddling around with it) then it came back out of now where. Not sure if reloading the tune actually helped.

"Poking at things" is a very under-appreciated troubleshooting technique.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
