I think I would of done it like you did your front bar. It would of divided your roof rack into two compartments which may or may not be acceptable for what you plan to carry up there. It is certainly much better than not having any bars there.twowheeletex wrote:this was my idea. do you think it'll be enough?

I like the way it's turning out. Looks like the rear of it would be good for a spare tire. Thanks for everyone's input, too. Always enjoyable reading. Seems like a tight fit... I wonder if you will get a rattle from the roof to the cage. Also painting... grr... I dislike paiting.

By the time I realized my mistake too much weld had been laid to correct it. Adapt and overcome right?JUSSUMGUY wrote:I think I would of done it like you did your front bar. You read my mind. I am planning on carrying a spare up top. I also carry inner tubes and spoons for when I lose a front or when just one spare isn't enough. I will have a bunch of the peel-n-stick tar board/roof-flashing lining the interior for sound deadening on every surface of the interior and some cheap office type Lowes carpet on the roof for a headliner. hopefully it will help keep it cool and relatively quite inside. I'm sure por-15 and bedliner will be involved somehow. also. . . paint?TimS wrote:I like the way it's turning out. Looks like the rear of it would be good for a spare tire. Thank you. sometimes when I'm in the garage thinking about what to do next, I get that blind leading the blind feeling. but I'm by myself.tikotiko wrote:I dont believe in over kill looks great man keep it up. Strong is good. Your car looks strong

Looking great! It is impossible to have all the tools you want for a fab job, but it is easy to the ones you need if you are creative.
I do the "chalk on the floor" trick a LOT and have added "masking tape stuck to the floor" to that skill.

Re: Twowheeletex Baja Build 2.0
even on valentine's day weekend I got some of that garage time. I realize that most people would start with the important parts of the build and leave the roof rack for later. I however am now confident I can execute the rest of the inside of the rollcage now that I've hacked together the roof rack. there is so much welding that needs to be finished it's a little daunting. blah blah pictures.
I'll wait to put the expanded steel on until I have everything else done or I get tired of stepping over it.
