002 pressure plate confusion....Stage 2 Clutch kit

Post by danielzink »

Okay.

I have an 002 trans:

I ordered a:
Vw Clutch Kit With Stage 2 Kennedy 8" / 200mm Pressure Plate, Daiken Clutch Disc And German Throw Out Bearing, Application For Volkswagen Type 1 Bug And Ghia 1971 Thru 1979, Type 2 Bus 1971 Thru 1979, All Dune Buggies And Sandrails Using Vw 12 Volt Transmissions With Late Style Throw Out Shaft & Bearing.

That is definitely what I got:

I thought that the late pressure plates didn't have the "ring" in the center ? just the fingers....

Is this "normal" for the "stage 2" style ?

Thanks, Dan

Just remove the ring. Its held on by a circle clip thingy. Piece of cake.

The retaining ring spirals on from the flywheel side of the cover

Not all covers with removable thrust rings can be used either way like this - but Kennedy's have a large enough opening in the center to clear the TOB guide tube on the trans so they will work.
